PORTSMOUTH — Police here are hoping that someone recognizes the man who was caught on camera during an attempt

to break open an ATM at a Portsmouth bank.

A camera at the Citizens Bank Branch at 3033 East Main Road caught several clear images of a hooded man carrying a crowbar into the bank lobby at 11:57 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28.

“He tried to gain access” to the ATM “but was not successful, Lt. Peters said. In the process, the man caused extensive and costly damage to the ATM, rendering it inoperable.

Lt. Peters said Thursday that Portsmouth police have already received some tips

about the person’s identity and are working on those leads.

Portsmouth Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying this suspect.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 401-683-0300.
